Sometimes words can get lost in translation, even in music, which recently occurred with SZA‘s performance on Drake‘s For All The Dogs track “Rich Baby Daddy.”
In response to questions regarding her actual lyrics on the song, which some listeners found indecipherable, the songstress clarified what she actually said during her verse. Taking to social media, SZA, who explains she was under the weather while recording her portion of the song, revealed the accurate lyrics to remove all speculation as to what message she meant to convey.
“‘You been so good and you deserve to end your suffering, I need good d**k n conversation can you comfort me,” the Grammy Award winner wrote. “I got a feeling this is more than what we both say I got a feeling this is more than feelings. I can’t let you get away .. feels good but it can’t be love . Ain’t a damn thing that I’d do ! Ain’t a damn thing oooooo,'” she added, before jokingly noting she shared the lyrics “just in case” there was any confusion.
“Rich Baby Daddy” features SZA and Sexyy Red and has become one of the more popular songs from Drake’s For All The Dogs album. Released as a single, the track peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking SZA’s second collaboration with Drake to crack the Top 20. The pair previously topped the Billboard Hot 100 with “Slime You Out,” which debuted at No. 1 upon its release in September.
According to SZA, the reason for her unclear vocals on “Rich Baby Daddy” is Drake’s insistence that she appear on the track, despite her not feeling well at the time. “I was sick w a fever n couldnt breathe when I recorded this and told @champagnepapi no one would understand me n I sound crazy,” she wrote. “He said noooo ur fine anyways here’s the lyrics to RBD once n for all.”
